Bigger Tires for a 2011 Rubicon
All,
I just bought a 2011 Rubicon and I would like to put bigger tires, but I do not want to lift it. What are the biggest size tires I can use without any rubbing? I have been told that I could use 33. But people that have put 33 on their 2010 complaints about minor rubbing.
Please, don't send me to search; I have done so. But no-one has addressed this issue on a 2011.
Thank you very much ahead of time for your assistance!

From the FAQ's:
Q: What is the biggest size tire I can fit on my stock Jeep JK Wrangler?
A: The largest tire size that the factory recommends is a 255/75R17 (which comes standard on Rubicon models) or a 32x10.50. However, there are many Jeep JK Wrangler owners who are currently running as big as 285/70R17 or 33x10.50's with little to no rubbing issues.
Or...like people have said, you can run flat fenders and run 35's with no lift too for that LCOG look.

I'm planning on buying after market wheels, Size: 17" x 8.5" with backside spacing (in): 4.75. and I'm also thinking about replacing the flares with a set of Step Down Flares...Does this give more room for bigger tires?
I believe if I use anything bigger than 33s, I will have to do a gear change....right?

Unless you need to justify the expense to the wife...because in that case: "OH LORD YES - YOU ABSOLUTELY NEED TO BUY NEW GEARS! THINK OF THE CHILDREN!!!"

As for the Step Down Flares - if you're wanting more clearance for larger tires, then you might want to consider the flat fenders instead. With those, you can run a 35" tire with no lift at all. If you just like the look of the step down ones, I can't say if they'll provide more room or not.

Not necessarily. Plenty of people on here run the 4.10 gear ratio that you've got (since you've got a Rubicon) with 35's or even 37's with no problems.

LOl, no I don't even have a wife, so I'm fine with spending the money. I am not too crazy about the flat flares. I would love to go with 35s, but I guess I will have to stick with the 33s since I do not want to lift the Jeep
