Default Biggest Gears?

What are the biggest gears you can stuff into the rear Dana 44? I was looking at the Front dynatrac axles that come in a 4.88-5.13-5.38 ratios.

Thanks!

Thanks Pluke 5.38's are probably going to be the biggest gears I will need for 37's right? How about the 30 in the front?

For an auto, yes. 5.38's may be a bit much for a manual, though. Do some reading, and plug some numbers into the chart in the drivetrain faqs. (unless you plan on moving past 37's?)

Yeah I'm gonna keep the JK forever that's why I want to see how much I can put in the Dana 30's so when that breaks I'll move up to the 60, in 10-15 years I'll put some 40's on it and turn it into a rock rig

dana 30 is 513. but it's going to be weak if you throw 37s on it.

5.13's on the D30. 5.38's on D44's.

Again, plug some numbers into the chart, and make sure you aren't taking gearing advice based on an auto trans.

4.88's will be ok for 37's
5.13's would be ok for 40's
But 5.38's would get you close to 3k rpm @70 on 37's.

I think when I go for the big tires 37's I'll go with the 5.13 for my manual
