Default On board air

I'm here again looking for more advice from experienced folks. I'm wondering if there are any reasons that would steer a person towards an ARB compressor or a VIAIR compressor? I want the system permanently installed, so portable units are out. All it has to do is air up a low tire now and then. I can't see getting tires bigger than a 33" right now so the cfm doesn't have to be huge. And air tools are unlikely, so a 2.5 gallon tank isn't really needed. Just a nice, reliable, basic setup. Northridge has a nice ARB package that includes a mounting bracket. Any thoughts? Thanks for your help.

You're trying to decide between a date with Jessica Biel and Megan Fox...tastes may differ, but you're not likely to be disappointed either way.

I went with the ARB because I liked the package the Northridge offers, I think that the ARB wiring harness is first-rate, and I like the fact that ARB integrates a small manifold and pressure cutoff switch into their "basic" high volume compressor package. I've been very happy with it. The folks I know that run Viair systems are very happy with theirs. You're not going to end up with a lemon here.

Viair. It's what I run on my rig. It's fast, it's cost effective and everything is included with the kits you need to run on board air. With the ARB, you're just getting the compressor, which is fine if you are just running air lockers or want to piece things together. The Viair tank additionally allows you to run air tools for short bursts if you're in a bind. Sell both and both are great products, but see the Viair as the more comprehensive product.

Thanks for your replies. It sounds like a tie. The receiver tank and pressure switch on the ARB did get my attention. It looks like I won't be let down with either one, Jessica or Megan!

X’treme Duty Onboard Air Systems (P/N 10009)
I assume with this kit you need to be running 2 batteries. 29 amp constant draw sounds like a lot of juice.

I would love to see some install pics myself. I do like the nickel plated look of the viair.

Check out Project JK here for pics that show the ARB compressor mounted beside the brake master cylinder. Using a mounting bracket from Dominion Off Road the VIAIR can go in the same spot. Would it be a bad idea to have the compressor on/off switch under the hood, since you have to open the hood anyway for the air line?

I wonder if one could wire in a 2 or 3 way switch so you could turn it on in the jeep or at the bumper or at an additional access point.
