If you dont have a winch get a Warn PowerPlant winch. Had a built in compressor. Then you arent taking up any extra room that you could use for something else

One thing you should know when mounting to the brake booster:

Make sure the mounting braket doesn't touch the brake lines underneath it. I had that and it resulted in brake pedal vibration and drag.
Just bend the brake lines down a bit.

I have the ultimate kit from Jeepswag. Includes a 2 gallon tank that mounts between the radiator and engine. I absolutely love it. It comes with 2 in cab couplers that mount below the doors and I mounted the switch and gauge on the a pillar.

Even though I have an in cab switch, in the summer, I always open up the hood too. If not, in 100 degree heat, the auto shut off will kick in around 10 minutes into filling tires.

I love this kit. The guys from Jeepswag are super helpful over the phone too.

I run the ARB twin mounted under the passenger seat and plumbed underneath my backseat. Quick connect just inside each door. I had an air tank on my TJ with a compressor mounted under the hood and found that to be overkill for my needs, I do not run air tools from my jeep. The twin ARB airs up 35's very efficiently. The tank on my TJ did not help with airing up much. I would overrun the tank after the first tire then just be running straight off the compressor.

Could you just weld up and openings in a larger section of roll cage and weld into it fittings and use it as the "tank" I know years ago NASCAR teams used to cheat by pressurizing the roll cages with nitrous and plumbing the nozzles into the intake from inside the lifter valley. So I know that a roll cage can be made to hold pressure.

I'm using a Smittybilt portable air compressor. I go 4-wheeling three weekends a month, and have been using this compressor for two years now and it still works great.

The ViAir under hood mounted compressor is nice, but this one has three times the air capacity, and only cost $149. I keep it in the back of my Jeep all the time.

Great thread! Adding this to my project!

thanks guys for all your input i am going to look at the choices you recommended. If I get a setup that has a tank mounted up by the motor I am going to make a shield to block mud from getting up around the compressors.

thanks
