Default On board air question

Hey guys, and gals. I relocated my EVAP to above the rear axle. I'm now going to mount an air tank for on board air where the EVAP was, just higher. I haven't had time to go out and measure yet, so I thought I would see who has installed a tank in the same location and ask for any advise. How big of a tank did you go with? Do you wish you would have went bigger/smaller? Etc... I want to keep it high enough to keep it out of harms way. Any input or advise appreciated. And, any pictures would be nice too. Thanks.

I went with the ARB underhood air compressor and works great! airs up 35" tires in no time and its out of the way completely.

If I'm not mistaken, he is trying to mount a tank NOT an air compressor. With that said...

I'm assuming you already have an air compressor if your looking to mount a tank. If you do some searching around you should be able to find a 3-5 lb tank that should fit up there just fine.

It's totally your call... and for sure it makes sense to mount a tank in that new-found 'dead' space.
However... most people (I'm assuming yourself included) move the evap because it is in a place that is pretty open to rock damage.
That being said, a pressurized air tank is like a bomb if it ever gets punctured. Before I bought my JK, I had an s-10 on air ride and I mounted my tanks between the frame rails where the spare tire and X member used to be, during a late night cruising session I had the back of the truck too low and drove over a manhole cover and it caught the drain plug on one of my tanks and tore the bung right out, the tank had 200psi of air and it blew apart like Elmer Fudd's shotgun and took a hefty section of my bedfloor with it.

For sure, a tank would fit in that space, you could easily get a 4 gal to fit there, if you go to any place that sells transport truck parts they'll have the biggest selection of air tanks.. and they're wicked cheap too.

However... if you're going to be wheeling a lot, and wheeling atop rocks and such... I might not advise that, also, it's going to be a pain in the a$$ to access the tank if it's under there to attach air line and such.. so as cool and convenient as it would look, it might pose a problem or an annoyance when you want to access it.

I plan on adding OBA at some point and I'm just going to built a mount that will stretch across and hang the tank between the roll cage parallel to the tailgate, couple of quick connect fittings and then it's removable when I want to carry cargo or whatever.

I've for my tank in the back, strapped down to the seat brackets. I plan on mounting it elsewhere, just not sure where.... Don't do much rock crawling so the evap relocation and mounting the tank there seams reasonable.
