Default Broken ball joint boot?

Funny that someone just posted something similar recently about ripping a ball joint boot.

Well I was on a trip over the weekend and it either appears that I have squeezed all of the grease out of the boot or I have ripped it or it fell off the upper joint. I included a picture. Maybe this is something simple but I just when through an alignment from hell at a local shop. Long story short they refunded me for my alignment and also a new steering stabilizer. I asked them to grease my entire front end and they over greased everything. I normally do it myself but I was out of grease and I was headed on a trip. Wondering if they did something to it from using too much?

Picture included. Thanks for the help.

Common with those boots. Its not really a huge deal just contact synergy snd get a new boot. Make sure the spring is in good shape too.

Yea I just noticed I described it as a ball joint but it is the boot on the drag link? Correct?

Yes but you are not wrong calling it a ball joint.

Ok thanks for the help with terminology. I'll contact synergy for a new boot. Is it an easy install?

I'm going to get grease this weekend. It looks like if I just squeeze some into it the boot will re-seat itself. Is that possible? Or did I just have too many beers tonight?

Haha the boot is grooved and theres a spring that holds it in place. Just drop the tie rod end and swap it easy.

What causes it to rip? I just had a nightmare experience at an alignment shop and I think this could be their work. Put it this way....they ended up cutting me a check for $325 for me to take my business elsewhere and get whole again.

Too much flopping causes it to rip. Or if they leveraged off the joint when tightening the jam nut could do damage.
