You may net a bit more with a spring lift, and then you'll be wanting new tires. It's a never ending circle. Try jacking up one side of the jeep so you have the cleareance between the tire and the fender and see what you like more. 2" 2.5" 3" you may find that you don't like any of them and will want a leveling kit.
If the ride is too rough for you then You'll be into changing shocks, if you still don't like it then it gonna be springs. This is an expensive way to get a lift that you like. Lots of parts bought and sold till you get the right combo.
Is their anybody around you runnin the lift your interested? Can you go for a ride with them and see if it's what you want. Find as many lifted jeeps as you can and go for a ride with them and see what set up you like, and in your price range.
As well have you looked for a used lift yet? People keep doing upgrades, and they will sell off complete lifts or just parts of the lift for fairly cheep.
The other thing to remember is the other half, I'm lifted 2.5/3 sometimes on 35 other times on stock rubi 32 and my girlfriend has a hard time sometimes getting in/out so you may have to get some form of steps.

I've had a Tera Flex 2.5 BB since before I got my Jeep. I only put 1200 miles to drive it from Hot Springs, AR to Phoenix, AZ. I put it on, and it has worked great for 5 years, put flat fenders on it and it works great off road with 35's. Now has 52,000 miles on it.

Plus's with Tera Flex's 2.5 inch BB.
  1. Same Ride
  2. no need to new drivelines with 4 door
  3. Fit 35 inch tires with flat fenders...(love the look, low center of gravity)
  4. No track bar changes required. The tires will be off a tad, but hasn't affected me.
  5. Low cost!
I am a big fan of Tera Flex's BB. I can't talk about other BBs though.

Holy crap Batman!

That pic sells it! Now I have to reconsider the TF BB. When I originally got my jeep this pic right here sold me on it. BB w/35's and doors off

I just had the 2.5 teraflex BB installed by a local shop here in Phoenix, and they threw in some rubicon springs/shocks takeoffs for free, looks really good and drives just like it used to when it was stock, only difference is you feel taller.. Now I just have to find a good deal on some 33's

Default Rubi springs and shocks

So this might be off track a bit but does Rubi springs have a higher spring rate, or a higher ride height?

I have a rc 2.5" front 3" rear bb. Shock extender brackets and breakline extenders. I think i paid 140 out the door. I have a rubi and wanted to keep my stock ride. It is still sitting on stock 32s and i offroad every now and then. Full flexed and stuffed and is great for what i needed.

They do have a higher spring rate and are a bit taller (I think) than Sport/X and Sahara models. Somewhere I saw a chart with all the different part numbers for every conceiveable configuration.

I'm running a RC 2.5 BB with shock extenders on my JKU Rubi (with towing pkg) and it's been good after 44,000 miles. No difference in ride from stock although I will probably upgrade the shocks and track bars this summer.

2.5 Teraflex BB on 2011 w/ 33x10.50 (255x85x17 I believe, Have to double check) Ran stock shocks until I couldn't take the beating anymore. Upgraded to Skyjacker Hydros. Rides like a dream. No drive shaft modification. Only sketchy part is drilling the rear track bar drop bracket and getting the paper outline they give you lined up to perfection.
