Default bumper installed... spring compression issue tbd...

per previous threads.. i decided on the rugged ridge winch stubby with stinger and 8500 winch. i calc'd the weight and figured I would lose 1 inch up front with my TF perf BB (TF shocks, stock sahara springs).

I was correct in the weight and the final drop.. 1 inch.

What I didn't consider properly is that the 1 inch would have an effect on the distance left between the upper bump stop and the base. It now has at MOST 1 inch remaining before the bump stop hits...that's with sway bar connected... haven't bothered trying with it disco'd

While that is probably "ok" for the street baring any major dips.. its definitely a concern.

My goal is to get some JKU rubi front springs to restore the inch I lost (cmon EVO giveaway contest!!! )

In the mean time.. how concerned / careful should I be? I did a quick test mile after the install any didn't really notice a difference at least...

thx in advance!

New coils would be better than stacking spacers.

You shouldn't have any issues, though. Maybe a jolt from bumpstop contact on bigger bumps, but the bumpstops will stop the coils from over-compressing.

I agree with nthinuf, you won't have problems. I have been driving my JKU with a Rock Hard bumper and Superwinch around with the same factory springs and it has been OK, but I too have only about 1 inch of travel left. It gets a little rough driving around our streets here in DFW, since our streets are rough!

If you can, get new springs, it will give you height back and the ride will improve. I just ordered TF 2.3 lift and can't wait to get it and install it!

Try to find some rubi coils ( 18's ) if possible. Right now your probably running 16/15 in the front. You will see a bid difference with the Rubi 18's. I put them on before my TF 2.5' BB and they leveled out my front end. The cools are pretty stiff and a huge difference than what your running now....

I installed a Rock Krawler 3.5 which came with new springs. I gave my Rubi springs to a buddy with an X sport, and it made a tremendous difference in his stance.

thanks for the feedback. I've put about 100 miles on it so far and the ride is fine..i havent noticed hitting the bumpstops..but i'd prefer to have more insurance up there..

been on the lookout for 2 weeks trying to find some 18s up front to replace my 15s.
