Default C Gussets

Read the sticky, are they really necessary if I intend on running 35's? I intend on re-gearing eventually, probably before next summer.

Do you want your C's to remain semi-straight? Do some price checking and decide if gussets are cheaper than having offset balljoints installed...

I'm not even sure what they do, but I just read the sticky and didn't know if I should get them. I'm horrible with cars and my friend who has been a mechanic for 20 years is helping me install everything from the lift to the tires and rear tire carrier.

They strengthen the inner C's of your front axle. This is at the outsides of the front axle where the ball joints are located.

As for necessity, I do not have them and run 315/70/17s on a 2.5" lift. I have not bent anything yet, but primarily only wheel in mud and sand which are both more forgiving than rocks. I plan on ordering the Evo Gussets soon though.

The stock C's are weak. People have bent these with stock tires . It's not if you will bend them but when. Once bent , you can't unbend them. Your camber will be outta spec and as nuthinuf said you'll need adjustable ball joints. I'd be willing to bet there are alot of people running with bent C's on here that don't even know it. They are cheap insurance for a very common prob.

Check out this thread. The first post has some good pics of the stock C's, then with the gussets sitting on top before welding, and the final product after they are welded in place.

You should also decide if you want to add sleeves when the gears go in. While maybe not 100% necessary, they are another 'cheap insurance' item.

They are the cheapest insurance you can buy for your axels. Well worth it, I have yet to put a set in but REALLY need to just do it.

Are the c's welded on? I'll re-gear within a year after putting the 35s on. I don't wheel. Only beach driving. Nothing crazy.
