Default 35's all the way

I never even thought about 33's since I have 32's on it stock. I am thinking of going with the new Rock Krawler 2.5 Max Lift or the Full traction 3" Premium lift but I have 35" Goodyear Wrangler MTR's in mind all the way.

Just added Teraflex Leveling Kit, 2" in front, 1" in rear with 285/70/17 Cooper STT. NO Spacers. I love the attitude adjustment. With 2 different GPS units on board, my MPH are exactly correct with these tires. My steering wheel did not need adjusted. I notice no power loss. Just a good looking mod. The height is just right for what I do. I'm not crawling rocks or going mudding just daily use. I just wanted it to look like a jeep should. Tires barely make a noise on the road also.

I’m reading a lot of get 33’s, get 35’s , get 37’s so what’s the issue here: taller or wider.

I can get BFG MT 255/80r17 which are 33.3 tall but skinny or I can get Pro Comp 33-11.00R17 which are 33.0 tall but there an inch wider. I’m thinking that most of us want to fill-out that fender well.

If your worried about performance then I would have to say keep it skinny – if you don’t care about friction and MPG then go for the width.

I'm glad I went with 35's.

My 315/70/R17 GY Duratracs are about 34.4" tall x 12.5" wide if I remember the specs correctly. However, after installed under the weight of the vehicle, steel bumper, accessories, etc. and inflated to 35psi, I'm sitting at 33.75" tall x 12.5" wide.

The stance is much improved and wider, about 1 inch or so outside the fender with 4.5" backspacing on 17x9 rims.

Everyone is always quick to point out that 35's are not really 35". That's true but 32's are not really 32" either. My stock 255/75R17 are supposed to be 32" but they measure 30 3/8".

I'm currently wavering between Cooper STT 295/70R17 (33.45x11.8 with 20.5/32 tread depth) and GY Duratrac 315/70R17 (34.4x12.7 with 18/32 tread) Both are about the same price.

I'm kinda leaning toward Coopers today. Tomorrow will be Duratrac day.

STT

33.45 is a little better for the 3.73's for power and MPG
11.8 is better for clearance and MPG
20.5/32 should give better than average tread life. ( they advertise a long life compound)

Duratrac

34.4 is 1/2 more ground and water crossing clearance, slightly less power and likely lower MPG
12.7 wide may be a little better in the mud, but may be a little worse in the sand, certainly less MPG
The Duratracs will probably "look" better.

It doesn't help matters that a guy that works in this building is running 37" KM2's on his JK and ALWAYS parks right next to me.

Do whatever you want to your jeep and take the good advice (there is a ton of it)....and do what i do with the neg advice....ignore it....ignorance is sometime unavoidable.
