Changing out trac bar and LCA bolts.
I just got my new bolts from Northridge and want to get them changed out this week. Can I replace them with the tires on the ground or do I need to lift it to take pressure off?

You can do them with the tires on the ground as long as you don't do them all at once.
|
No need to remove the tires. Do one arm at a time and once done bounce the front to help settle it before torqueing. Support the axle when doing the track bar with a jack.

Are you guys torqing the bolt head instead of the nut?
What sized wrench are you using on the factory bolt/nut? 20 mm? 21 mm? Thanks. |
If at all possible, the nut should be the side you tighten from not the bolt head. As the bolt can bind against things and throw of your tourqe reading.
I'm not an expert, I just assemble municipal water systems for a living and happen to know a thing or two about tigthening bolts..... |
Doesn't seem like there is enough room to get the TQ wrench and socket on the nut side.
Is there? What am I missing? |
There isn't much room down there to begin with let alone getting enough leverage to put 125# of torque on those nuts.
