Chrysler paid me for my auxiliary transmission cooler
Are the 2010's impacted by this? I realize the tranny is the same but do I have the same issue? I'm regeared to 5.13's and I have been considering doing the tranny cooler but should I considering I'm regeared? Thanks!
You would already have the "Hot Oil" warning programmed into your computer. Gears are just a part of it. Gears reduce the load on the transmission which will reduce the amount of slippage and heat some. That said, I was with a guy with a four door and stock tires who was trying to pull someone out of a mud hole when his "Hot Oil" light kept flashing. I explained that was the recall he went in for and to let it run in park for a while until it went off. So the transmission will still get hot under certain conditions regardless of gears. A transmission cooler is always a good idea and I believe the owners manual even recommends it if you are using the Jeep under more severe duty.
I like the B&M. See the write-up thread https://www.jk-forum.com/forums/show...r+installation. I installed the same model and have not had any issues.
I installed an auxiliary transmission cooler last year because of the tendency of the automatic transmissions to run too hot.
Then came the J30 recall. The recall letter said Chrysler would reimburse me if I had already paid to try to mitigate the problem that the recall addresses.
So I sent them the bill for my B&M transmission cooler.
Got the check in the mail today!!!
