Clutch is gone
All of a sudden while driving normally on highway i felt the clutch pedal a bit soft. Stopped at the gas station and guess what couldnt put het into gear. Lucky i was close to home so stall start in first.
This is my second clutch replaced under warranty with less then 7000 miles. Has anyone installed the centerforce clutch yet? I really dont want to put the oem clutch again as they are shite. |

I put in a new OEM clutch at around 35k... seems a little quick to me -- my last manual trans had 140k miles on the original clutch when I sold it, but it was a regular car so not exactly rock crawling
I really wanted the centerforce also, but I had a big trip coming up so I bit the bullet and did the OEM clutch again. I think I heard somewhere that the JK centerforce part is showing up on various vendor sites. I'd say go for it and report back -- it can't really be worse than the OEM clutch, can it? |
Even 35k is quick for a Jeep with a lift/tires.
My buddy has 150k on his 00' TJ with lots of wheeling miles on it, running 35's for most of its life. |
OEM Clutch
I had problems as well with a new JK 6-speed. When I backed into my garage, with a slight incline, it would smoke the clutch. I was told I was riding the clutch too much, and I explained this was not my first manual. I had them replace the clutch, and I was told the flywheel bolts allowe oil to leak onto the disc, so they replaced the clutch disc, and pressure plate. Same thing happened again, so they replaced the clutch and machined the pressure plate surface.
I think I was led down the primrose path, but I have not had any problems since. I as well would like to put in another clutch, but don't know who even offers them for the JK |
I think they all would want to know where and when you got the centerforce, most sites listing it you still cant get it from apparently

and how much was the parts n stuff for that clutch?

Between us I took the old OEM clutch and threw it at the dealer ship and yelled through my PA for them sto shove there cheap parts! If you are gonna build Jeeps, make them strong enough to last for a few years. I had mine put in at a privite shop, I hate dealer ships.
