Default D44 or ??

Ok I bought a 2011 jku Sahara with only 1800 miles. I want to do some crawling but also keep the DD aspect. When I originally bought the jeep I didn't know that the rubi had D44 upfront and 4:1 tc. Anyways from reading on the forum that I'd be better off buying a D44 than upgrading the D30. Should I go with mopar to maintain warranty or go with dynatrac or step up to the rock jock d60?? Any thoughts opinions??

if you plan on running 37's or bigger, plan on playing really hard and can afford it, a prorock 60 is the way to go. otherwise, you can't go wrong with a prorock 44 and it'll get the job done for you. no point in getting a mopar 44 as it's still got 30 tubes and knuckles.

Pro-rock stuff is really bad ass and certainly the way to go if you can afford it, like WOL said. However, if you don't have the budget and only want to do 37's then a stock, rigged up 44 will do just fine. You can find plenty of them in junk yards of on ebay or the likes of.

The third option is do a ford high pinion D60 out of an 3/4 or 1 tone pickup. This option is more expensive than the 44 because it requires fab work and some changes to be made, but for a little more than ~ 2500 you could have a D60 up front and your electronics good to go. This is the route I'll go eventually because I want more than 37's and couldn't ever afford an aftermarket option.

Kool. Is a 4:1 transfer case worth trying to get?

It depends on how you wheel and what trans you have. If you're doing a lot of rock crawling a 4-1 is a good option. If you're doing a lot of woods running a 2.72 case is usually fine. The 4-1 is usually more desirable with a stick than an AT.

know plenty of guys running 40" and up tires on the stock 44 but of course its beefed up (RCV's, sleeves/gussets, trussed, Reid Knuckles and such) So its doable and def cheaper than pissing away 7 grand on up for a PR or RJ. Yes they're nice but not into paying that much coin for anything. I've had my stock 44 on 37's with Spyderlocks on some decent shit with zero worries. Just make sure you beef it up before going too crazy. and make sure to take it easy on trails and you'll be fine
