Daystar Hood Cowl...function feedback?
Just wondering if anyone has this and looking for some feedback on how well it actually vents the heat...

I just came upon that same one recently. It's exactly what I've been looking for. Would love to hear/see more about it from someone who already has one. <Subscribed>

Daystar just released it this Spring. I plan on installing the other set of Daystar hood vents, I just can't decide if I want this one or the small triangular vent thar matches the pair. BTW, Daystar is running a special on their site on the side vents.

Any more information out there??

Good Video, seen a few times when Kelly via Daystar would reply to my emails.. Not going to bad mouth this product.. but I would make a few alteration and actually remove more of the hood material which is under the cowl.. Instead of the single hole in front..I think in this case.. if a intake type device set in place of the front vent opening, it would be a "slim line" snorkel/breather unit instead of a heat reduction.. which could be added as a dual purpose cowl also. Very reminiscent of the Trans-Am's of the late 70's - 80's
If anyone has seen how the Corvette intake is setup.. they would see that the filter/tube/intake would hang down in front of the engine.. flip this design up and incorp this idea into the hood when closed as a ram air system etc.. Inspiration for my days with the SCCA.. yeah I know.. I amaze myself sometimes.. |
Any new info on if the performance is with the money?

Watched the video and find it hard to see how that one little hole would vent a ton of heat. Given the amount of hood they are covering up, I'm surprised they don't have you cut a lot more of an opening, similar to what you'd do with a PS louver.
