Default Death Wobble Question: Drag Link lift/non lift

Current profile:
  • 2012 Wrangler Sport
  • Teraflex 1.5 inch Leveling Kit (all pucks installed)

Problem:
  • Death Wobble
Trouble shooting (via visual & tactile) inspection indicates that the drag link is worn (at the passenger side wheel joint).

QUESTIONS:
  • Will the Teraflex 1853920 Extreme Heavy Duty Drag Link work w/ my TeraFlex 1.5 inch leveling kit
  • Will the Teraflex Drag Link work when I lift the jeep further? to 2.5 inches ? or 3 inches?

Thanks,
D-

maybe? depending? could you elaborate, please.

is the Teraflex 1853920 flippable?
does it have to be flipped?
under what circumstances should the drag link be flipped?
what benefits / advantages are there when flipping the Drag Link?

The one you've listed does not flip because of the bend and the type of ball joint. It will fit and is adjustable as far as length. Some of the other drag links have an interchangeable tie rod end where the adjustment is made at the end. Look at the synergy drag link as an example. Generally you flip above 3-4 inches because of what is know as bump steer. Some will say 3 some will say 4. Regardless if you do ever flip you have to raise track bar at the same time. The drag link and track bar have to be at same angle and for steering performance in general you want them as parallel to the ground as possible. I have the synergy drag link and the benefit is it can be flipped. I too had DW with a level kit at the time. Drag link was the cause and fix. I replaced it with a synergy. Later I went to a 3" lift and flipped the drag link with a $10 adapter. The TF flipped uses the same adapter but you have to buy a new end for $180 because of the bend. I don't know if the TF TREs can be replaced.

Strange the joint is worn, you typically see the bracket wear out.

Pics. I did the same thing and had to replace my Teraflex monster trackbar with a Synergy. The bend around the pumpkin is different and the Teraflex rubbed on the Synergy sector shaft reinforcement bracket. Click image for larger version

The track bar bracket. The thin metal it is made of should wear out faster then the inner bushing.

no issues there - perhaps because I installed the grade 8 hardware kit when the jeep was new.
