The Definitive Diablo Trinity Thread
***I have zero affiliation with Diablo***
Ok, so I finally got around to picking up the Trinity for my wifes JK. I know there have been a few threads started here and there asking about these because nobody wants to pony up the cash to find out.
I'll try my best to answer any questions that are asked. But keep in mind, there may be a delay as I am not active daily on this board.
Here is some of my tuning resume;
Haltech
MoTeC
Motronic
Optimum K
Lotus Tuning
Megasquirt
Miller
I am by no means an expert. And the Trinity interface is new to me. Seriously though, how hard can it be. So this thread is my way of giving back for all the information I lurked for or asked and was fortunate enough to get good answers.
I will not have all the answers right away as I am just starting to tweak this thing.
Here is my initial breakdown;
The interface is a little vague and confusing. You have to select 5.7L Hemi to get to the Jeep JK......strange. All gauge readouts are incredibly accurate as the feed off the ECU, TCU and various other signals. The screen is very nice with both the touch screen and navigation keys. The unit is a bit light and hollow with a very cheap feel. The navigation buttons are noisy and the touch screen takes a little extra touchin'. The loading process takes all of about 5 minutes max. To revert back to the OEM tune takes about 90 seconds, maybe less.
My first impression with the tunes (which was short because my son has go kart practice) was not horribly noticeable with the ass dyno, although the throttle was a wee bit more responsive. The initial tune I used was Performance 87 Octane (Premium in tank though). We have "92" in Hawaii. But that last samples we sent out came back as 91 or less and half of the samples were contaminated with salt water to some varying degree. And the only higher tune option is 93. So that won't happen here.
I ran the 0-60 pass tonight in the OEM tune and 87 Perf tune. I hammered out of the hole with the OEM tune knowing I wouldn't spin, but I rolled in the throttle with the Perf tune not wanting to spin the tires.
The Rig
08 JK Unl X HT
Auto Trans
Banks Intake
Banks Exhaust
20K on the ODO
Everything else stock
The Results
OEM 10.70 over 571ft
87 Perf 10.11 over 539ft (truck will go sub 10 easily)
The next feature I played with was tire size. You can put the tires in as metric or even exact size of 34.8" for example. Straight forward and simple to use.
Checking DTC's were easy. I had none.
Next up, 1/4 mile just for comparisons sake
