I would love to be able to do this as well, however, in Utah we have a state inspection requirement, and I thought I would check prior to putting on new wheels and tires, and alas, we have a requirement for the inspector to check all valve stems and run a test to assure the DOT required TPMS units have not been tampered with or eliminated. Just a heads up.

That is the great thing about a tuner. You can use the TPMS valve stems, and turn off TPMS. But, when you bring it in for inspection spend a few minutes to set it back to stock. It will take you longer to put the air pressure back to stock honestly. Once you pass, put it back the way you want.

That's almost what I do - disable it when I air down, enable it after I air up.

If you keep the sensors, I would recommend that you have them banded inside and run plain rubber stems. It gets expensive to keep replacing those stupid things.

Everybody knows Tire Rack sells the rubber grommet insert for $3.00 each right? The rubber grommets are single use items and are gauranteed to break when changing wheels....Almost found this out the hard way when i got my new wheels....i thought i was going to have to buy 5 new tpms at $72.00 each!! Nicew guy at Tire Rack added them at no charge to my order!
