Default Jku

I have an 09 JKUR. I run 35x12.5x18/ Nittos A/T. These are the older version of the Nitto. On road I run 28-30 lbs and minimal road noise, I have a 3" lift. We go everywhere from the Hill Country to Silverton and MOAB with no problems.
They're good tires and I agree with others don't settle for smaller ones. Mileage isn't any different from others, even my old TJonly got around 14mpg!

Is this the same as Discount tire? If so I think they're great. I've use them for 20 years and never a problem. They stand behind what they sell, I recommend the warranty.. On these puppies you only need one to blow (I have) to pay for a whole lot of warranty!

Take everyone's advice and get the 35's. You can throw a teraflex budget boost on easily and be good to go for a while.

You'll likely regret the smaller tires as 35's really aren't all that big.

Excellent input from all. We are all reaching out to help save you from the pain and agony of choosing a small tire. If you're going to do it, do it right the first time with NO regrets.

Smaller than 315/70/17 and you'll feel like the guy in my pic in no time

I almost went with 33s as well but found a sick deal on 315/70/17 (35s) and bought them. I have a 2.5" RK lift and 3.73 gears. With my lift 33s would've made my Jeep look like the kid who skipped leg day at the gym. Unless you're in a really hilly or mountainous area you shouldn't need to regear. My jeep drives just fine. I have MTZ P3 which are on the lighter side for 35s. However, if you choose a tire that's more than 70 lbs then you may want to consider a regear.

Also, make sure you adjust the speedometer with a FlashCal or ProCal. It makes a huge difference in drive ability.

Right after I got my JK I started scouring Craigslist for a deal on some tires... I scored this set of 285/70/17 TerraGraplers on stock 5 spokes for $200.

I ran them on my 100% stock suspension for a while... They rubbed when off road.

I later scored a set of used ProComps for $100 (after selling the new DC Crusher spare) that I sprayed with DupliColor bedliner and installed some 1" spacers in the front.

Now... I have 35 envy... With any luck, Ill be selling my 285's and installing some 315's that are a little more aggressive next year. The good news is, I should be able to make a few dollars on my wheels and tires once I go to sell.

with just a leveling kit 2857517s 305s and 315s are all going to rub if you use it for more then crossing the parking lot. 2857017s should be fine. If you want bigger you need a bigger lift again that is if its anything more then a maul cruiser.

Thanks for all the input. I still don't know what to go with I like the look of 305/70/17. I looked a little more into 315/70/17 I think that is to big, 12.4" wide is big for what I am looking for. I really want a c-rated tire. Looks like I need to upgrade to flat fenders or lift it more to accommodate for "large" tires. I really don't want to go do more then the leveling kit right now.

If you don't want more than a leveling kit and know you are not going to wheel hard slap some bfg KO2 34x10.5-17 on they look good and ride great on the road and will do ok offroad. they are big enough look better than stock but wont kill your power.
