Drifting in 35's....
I just recently got my 35's on and it seems to drift a bit on the highway. With 33's it would track straight as an arrow.....Any ideas? Could it just be that the new ones are MT's and the old ones where AT's?

Are they balanced and aligned? Hows the toe and caster?
|
Sounds like a caster issue, and or too much air pressure.

Balancing is good...no vibes at all. Pressure is at 29 as per the chalk test....I have no idea what toe or caster is at, will this change with larger tires?

A M/T will have a bit more of the wander feeling on the highway. Also by going up in tire size you are also decreasing the handling since there is more sidewall to flex when going down the road and cornering.
|
More sidewall, more flex. Plus, are the 35's wider than your old 33's? Wider tires will track more, too.
|
MT's usually wander or drift more then AT's. And the Terra grapplers you had before are a very smooth AT. My Dad has gone through several sets of them. They are the only AT he will buy now because of how smooth they are.

As long asmit is not an indication of a problem. It truly is not bad at all. I am just used to driving down the highway and not needing to hold the wheel....now I need to occasionally straighten her out.
Thanks for the input. |
