Driver's Seat will not recline
For some reason my driver's seat will not recline. I pull the seat out, check for obstructions and oiled everything, nothing... The side with the lever seems to disengage, but the opposite side (Nearest passenger) will not. The rod is firmly inside the square slot of the passenger side, but it will not rotate for enough to a lot any kind of adjustment. I removed the lever and tapped the rod with a hammer thinking it might not be seated well, still no joy. Has anyone else had this trouble?
Thanks
Thanks
[QUOTE=Marc Aucoin;4343865]Did you ever figure out the fix for this? I am having the same issue[/If your seat is jammed on the opposite side of the handle:
1 remove the seat and separate the top from the bottom
2 expose the rod running across from the handle to the opposite side hinge by separating the clip holding the seat material
3 cut the rod about two or three inches from the jammed hinge with dremel tool or cut off tool
4 pull out the piece of rod exposing the plastic bushing this part failed !
5 pull out the bushing with needle nose and a screwdriver- save this part!
6 find an Allen wrench that just almost fits the cross shaped hole the bushing occupied it’s just slightly larger than the hole I don’t know the size it loose in my tool box
7 tap the Allen wrench in the hole until it meets the rod you cut off
8 weld the Allen wrench to the rod while keeping slight pressure on the Allen wrench counterclockwise
9 make sure the fix works by working the lever it was trial and error the first time on how much counterclockwise pressure to keep on the Allen wrench while welding
10 cut off the Allen wrench from outer side of the hinge I left a little bit sticking out maybe 1/4 to 1/2 inch
11 reassemble the seat and try everything before you put it back in - if its all good put the seat back in the Jeep
