How frikkin hard are you talkin about wheelin?? You don't think a D30 with chromemoly axles, trusses, gussetts, sleeves and a good stout locker will hold up? what exactly are you gonna be doin?

It just seems that I am trying to fit a square peg in a round hole modifying the D30. I don't touch gears nor do I weld so I need to pay someone to do that work, which won't be cheap. The Dyna 44 Pro Rock comes ready to bolt up and should hold up to just about anything I throw at at. I recognize that there is price difference, but it just doesn't seem to be enough for me to justify the investment in the D30.

I hear you. But 4K is a wad you could spend elsewhere...know what I mean?

I understand what you're suggesting and appreciate the input. I know that 30can be built up to be stronger than the stock Rubi 44. There is no question that is the way I would go if given a choice between the Rubi 44 front or keeping the 30. In my opinion it seems like upgrading to the Rubi 44 in the front was a waste of money even when it was under $2K. I just wonder if the 30 will become a bottomless pit.

I've got a laundry list of upgrades and a finite budget near term so netiher is in the immediate future. I am trying to prioritize and get a timeframe together. I don't want to get stuck in a corner due to a poor decision and eat costs later. Maybe prices will fall a but by the time I pull the trigger. In the meantime, can I confidently wheel the Dana 30 bare bones stock on 35s if I keep the skinny pedal in check?

I would go with the 44 over just beefing up the 30. I would not go with a 60 on the front though because it adds so much more unsprung weight that on the highway, or higher speeds the suspension wasn't designed to account for. I have come to this realization after talking to some of the engineers that worked on the JK and some that make after market suspensions. Just my

you cant even begin to compare the two 44's..

have you ever seen how thin walled the mopar 44 is to the after market 44's?

Does the dynatrac give you lockouts? eitherway, If you can afford the aftermarket its a wise choice..

That's a Mopar Perf. Dana 44 front with locker for 1299! Mopar has them for 1499. Add in this:
Gusset/Truss/Welding labor - $400
Chromoly axle shafts (inner/outer) - $700

That puts you at $2600 for the one from Mopar, or $2400 for the ebay one, give or take. You've now pocketed $1400-$1600 for other mods, or to stick in the bank! It's your money either way!

If I'm reading it right, that is the rear axle. The front is $2700 from the same place in NC.

I'm leaning toward a slow 30 buildup as things break, myself. But between getting/building the rubi 44 vs the dynatrac, think I'd have to take the plunge on the Dyna and not look back.

If I'm not mistaken the front axle is the axle from a Rubicon, and it runs $2700. The tube diameter is comparable to the Dana 30 I already have. That is one of the primary reasons I am looking at the Dynatrac. I would still need to regear that guy, strengthen the tubes, and axle shafts. That puts me north of $4K (~$4300). That would put me in the ballpark of the Dynatrac ready to rock. I think I am going with the Dynatrac in the future and will wheel the 30 stock for now. Anything cheap I can do to keep the stock in good form to sell when I swap out, in addition to watching the skinny pedal?

The DynaTrac D44 is a REAL D44. The Rubicon front D44 isnt. It has D30 sized tubes, shafts, and joints. So if I had to choose, it would deffinately be the Dynatrac axle.
