Default Expedition One Tire Carrier Installation

I have had a few issues trying to install the Expedition One rear bumper/tire carrier. Following the instructions included with the bumper, i tried to align the tire carrier using both methods. Per the instructions, i first tried to align the carrier so that it contacts both the top and bottom rubber bumper evenly. This created a condition where the bottom of coupling was approximately 1/2" below the bottom of the bracket on the tailgate when the carrier was perpendicular to the rear of the Jeep. The coupling was in the correct location relative to the bracket on the tailgate when closed...

Then i used the second method. Using this method, the coupling stayed in the same position relative to the bracket on the tailgate when open and closed; however, the tire carrier only came in contact with the top rubber bumper (there as about an 1/8" gap on the bottom rubber bumper).

I am curious if anybody else has run into this same problem and how they resolved it...

I do need to say that the customer service i have received from Expedition One so far has been top notch. I just ran into this issue today and thought i would poll the knowledge base on the forum (in addition to the vendor)...

I do not own one of these bumpers, but have you checked out their install video? Not sure if this will help you. BTW nice bumper!

Well as i stated before, i have received top notch customer service from Expedition One. Within 24 hours of identifying the issue, they responded with a potential solution to the problem. They are sending me a larger bump stop for the bottom so i can align the carrier such that the coupling stays in the same position in relation to the bracket on the tailgate throughout the motion of the tailgate...
