Default Freedom-top insulation kit - big difference or worthless?

Anybody run the hard top insulation kit for their freedom top? If so, does it make a difference? I've held my hand up to the interior of the top and the heat was radiating pretty heavily. I'm wondering if these would help keep my jeep cooler.

I made my own big difference in temperature and sound.I also painted the top of the top silver with buzz can.At over triple digits the air was always on max now i can't actually turn it down.

Yes, it makes a difference. While I do not have it on mine, my buddy does and it's quite an improvement.

Interested in this as well. But seems to be homemade is as good as buying or "I had a friend..."

Would like to hear people who have had the kits chime in...

I glued carpeting, thin speaker box type, to my 06 LJ hard top and it made a lot of difference in sound. I haven't done anything to my JK yet.

I have the set from rugged ridge. Fits ok but other kits fit better. My biggest concern with the kit and the reason I didn't buy the more expensive kits is the extreme cold my jeep is subjected to. So far one winter is under it's belt. -50f and none of them fell off or drooped. Hothead warns against low temps and the integrity of the Velcro adhesive by the way. I can assure them that with proper prep it is not an issue. Wish I would have got theirs now though. They do seem to make it slightly quieter.

Can't say they were better than nothing since it was my first winter with the jeep. I can say without a doubt that this vehicle has been the best rig I've ever had where winter heat is concerned. Does great.

The one area that spurred me to buy them has not been tested by me yet but the hothead liners are aptly named. When we were wheeling last summer on hot days my a/c seemed like it was struggling but only partially. My body was fine and it felt cool in the jeep. However, my head alone felt hot. In fact i was sweating from the head and it was downright miserable and frustrating to only feel hot on the bean and fine everywhere else. I'll let you know how they work out this summer. Even if they help a little I'll be happy.
