Default front OEM Flares, without splash guards?

anyone running the OEM front flares without the splash guards installed?? Im wondering if it can be done. I already have the rears without the splash guards and they seem to be holding up fine, but i'm wondering about the fronts... they seem flimsier than the rears...

Im asking because I cut up my splash guards for the xenon install. im curious how the JK wiull look with my setup and OEM flares so I wanted to stick them on for a few days to see how i liked it.. (I dont want to buy all new splash guards just to try it out)

They hold up just fine without the inner soft plastic liners. The only thing they really protect is the bottom of the fender close to the door, and I cut that part off.

I have been through many rocks and mud and the fenders don't show any damage. All three pieces that make up the fender are on mine, but I don't have any of those plastic push screws that connect the top fender flare to the inner liner or bracket. No flapping or structure problems.

Now if you take off the hard plastic support (the one held up with the four bolts) then the top fenders become a little flimsy.

Well, wouldn't you want them on to keep mud and crap out of your engine compartment ?

I cut the originals to end at the body, so they still protect the engine compartment, but they dont protrude any into the area where the flare sits.

thanks for the replies, I guess i will go ahead ind give it a try.... Ill make a poll comparing the 2 different looks and see what everyone likes... I think I like the OEM painted flares but a few buddies of mine say im nuts.
