just a question geared to those axle gurus out there. im in the planning stages of equipping my rig with 4.88's and lockers. what im wanting to know will a full spool for the higher gear sets work in the back of my non-rubi dana 44, if the ring gear holes are drilled out to the needed 1/2"?


IM not a ARB man and the solid respected engagement of the Detroit is more in favor of the just locked 100% of the spool this time around. just wanting some wisdom on if itll go in or not without a moment of drama

I'd be interested in hearing your results. My concern would be whether the ESP would go crazy when you turn a corner since it anticipates the wheels will travel at a different speed. Offroad it should not be a problem, but on-road could do interesting things with these computerized beasts.

Plenty of people here running automatic lockers in back. And more often than not, the inside tire stays locked with the outside tire when turning sharp. As long as one tire doesnt go way over the speed of the other, the ESP should not care. And with the locker, that inside tire is never going to over spin the outside tire.

As for the spool, I am 99% sure you will have to drill it out. I have not seen any 30 spline JK specific lockers or spools.
