I am satisfied as well. Now I can actually go up a hill and not lose any speed. This was by far well worth the $$$$.

Yea, I agree. I hate my 4.10's and 35's but I'm lucky to keep it in OD at all.
On the flatest of roads with no head wind, it'll run about 1600 to 1700 rpm in OD at 60 mph. The slightest throttle pressure and I'm back in 3rd and around 2500. I need 4:88's

The problem with the auto is the final gear is .69, and the engine just doesnt have the grunt to pull the jeep along with tires in the 35 flavor. With the manual its .84 and that allows you a little more umph in the final (6th) gear.

I didnt vote because I have 4.10's and 35's, but if I was going to do it I would recommend the following due to the RPMS and the ideal final overall gear.

Manual, 4.88
Auto, 5.13

Take these into account and use a gear calculator to decide for yourself. http://www.csgnetwork.com/multirpmcalc.html

Gear Ratios 5th 1.00
Gear Ratios 6th 0.84
Gear Ratios Reverse 4.06
Axle Ratio 3.21 Std., 4.10 Opt. (Std. on Rubicon)
Overall Top Gear 2.69 Std., 3.44 Opt. (Std. on Rubicon)

Transmission:

42RLE—Automatic, Four-Speed Overdrive

Thread necro! You might want to check dates on all the gearing threads you're posting on, I've seen three so far (was wondering why so many people had gearing questions all of a sudden...)

Gotta love the 3+ year old threads. Too bad the search function doesn't appear to organize by date.

Sorting by date in search results would be ideal.

I'm not sure it matters, the answers are pretty much the same then as they are now. The only caveat would be the 2012s.
