Gear Ratio on 6.0 (L96)
Have saved enough pennies to replace my 3.8 (with 198K miles) with a L96 (6.0) engine. Just wondering what gears folks are running with their converted JK? My current tire size is approximately 34". My Jeep is my daily driver. I currently have 4.88, which work great with the 3.8, but I am pretty sure those gears are a little too low for the L96. Thanks for your assistance and knowledge in advance.

I have the 6.0 and L96!in my 08. Run 5:13's on 37s and is my daily driver. If you do more daily driving than anything else then go 4:56. Perfect gear for both worlds thru 38's. Give either MOTECH or RPM Extreme a call to educate yourself further. Good luck and enjoy your swap

Have received an estimate from MoTech and just have to make logistic planning in dropping off the Jeep in Las Vegas. Have to make sure I have vacation plans for dropping off and picking up Jeep.

My JK is heavy, 6500lbs before loaded with camping gear.
5.38's and 40's, 2100 at 70mph+- and I wouldn't suggest any other gearing.
Robbie will say 4.10's but thats great for a light JK not onebuilt up and loaded for trails.
Just a FYI I'm making little over 400 HP-TQ at the crank.
I would talk to John @Overland Performance first before going to Robbie.
Also EXODUS JEEPS is in Texas.

My 2dr is @ 5200lbs and I'm on 37's and tons , LS-3-6L80E and run 4.30 gears , John do know his shit for sure . Weight and how your rig is configured makes a big difference in selection of ratios .
What is more important is how you will use your Jeep , the way I use mine will differ from the way you or anyone else uses theirs .

The L96 (6.0) installed starts around $15,999 and goes up depending what other goodies you want to add. I am adding a duel row radiator, Camaro SS fan, 2012 tap shift, re-gearing, and a few other things. So, I will be paying over $22K.

Thank you. It's good to know I wasn't far off. I think between doing the engine/trans swap and axle swap, suspension, wheels/tires. I can see why people have 75k into one of these including purchase price. If you have the "best" of everything I could see an easy 100k if you had it all done.
