Default gears installed yesterday...problem today

I had superior 4.88 put in yesterday and everything seemed cool until today at lunch. I noticed a big grinding noise coming from the left front. I think...CRAP...gears are shot! I stop and get under the rig and notice that the front left brake caliper bolts are missing I drove around 70 miles the day before from the shop with the caliper floating around willy-nilly? SHIT! If that caliper had shifted 1" it could have caught the AEV wheel and locked it up...and at 60 mph...I would have gone for a roll!

Glad you didnt get into an accident...Looks like you might have to double check the shop's work, by doing a once over on all those bolts/parts...Hopefully they did a good install on your gears...How does your jeep perform with the new gears? Thanks...

They have done work for me before...lift and bumpers...always very clean installs. I guess someone got lazy on me or the two guys thought the other did the walk around check. The gears are great so far...much better off the line and I didnt have to turn off the OD on the hwy ride home.

Dude be very thankful that nothing seriously happened.
On another note.... you should go to the shop that installed them and slap the living shit out of tech that installed them!!!
That's total irresponsible bullshit.

Yup..Should at least let them know, so that may not happen to you or anyone else...The shop needs to be help accountable in regards to their work when a person's safety is on the line....

i agree. when you trust a shop to install gears, shafts, lifts, etc, they pretty much have your life in their hands.

make sure original equipment caliper bolts are reinstalled, look at your brake hose, abs sensor, and brake pads and rotor to insure nothing was stretched, stressed, or scored up.
