Just my opinion here... If I was going to do it I wouldn't go with a decal, I'd find a really good paint shop and have them paint it on. I think the details would come out better and if you wanted you could add a modern twist to the golden eagle. Again just my opinion, good luck!

 

First two links are from this site where people have pondered the same thing. The third link is where Jeep actually did it and made a limited run of them. I would probably take cues from the JK version if I were to do it myself but definitely do the gold rims like the TJ had (CJ also) to make sure that there was no question of what look you were going for.
