Default Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac 315/75R/16 VS. Goodyear Wrangler MT/R Kevlar 15" 35x12.50s

I'm finally going to make a purchase on new wheels and tires this weekend for my 2012 JKU and I've narrowed my search down to a couple of options. I thought I'd post here to get opinions on these two setups to hopefully help me make my choice.

I'm trying to figure out if I want to go with a 15x8 Level 8 Trackers along with Goodyear Wrangler MT/R K 35x12.50s or 16x8.5 Level 8 Trackers along with Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac 315/75R/16s.

Looks like the 15" combo will be around $300 or so cheaper and I personally like the beefy tire and small wheel look. This is my daily driver and I'm planning on wheeling only a few times per year. My major concerns are the ride quality and tread wear on the 35" MT/R Ks vs the expense of the 16" Duratracs. If I'm only going to get around 20-30K miles on the MT/R Ks, maybe I should spend the money up front instead of a couple of years down the road. If it matters my daily commute is less than 20 miles.

Any opinions are greatly appreciated.

I have ran 15 inch wheels with 33 Dt's for the last 45k. I had 16 inch 33's on my other JKU and didn't like the ride of the D rated 16 inch tires. C rated 15's ride better for me on the rough 2 lane state roads I travel. You will be limited to 35's with 15's where with 17's you can go to 37 etc.. I liked the look the ride and the price. I still like the looks of smaller wheels, I had Early Broncos in the early 80's with 38's on them.

Just curious about why he would be limited to 35's with 15 inch wheels?

I run 15" wheels and love the low priced tires. However if you think you will ever want to upgrade steering components go with a larger diameter wheel. Most of the aftermarket components are larger, heavy duty parts that will not have enough clearance with a 15" wheel.

You can get rubber larger than 35" for a 15" wheel but your choices are significantly limited.

That's why.
