Default got the height down now which lift

ok ive finally figured out that im gonna go with a 2.5" lift. i am still pondering the 1" body so i am looking for pros and cons on that as well. from what i have read on here that is the optimal lift height to avoid driveshaft issues and im not ready to cross that bridge yet. if im wrong please correct me. now as for brands, i am liking either the rk or tf but cant decide between the stock mod or max travel in the rk. i am going to run 35s and am very concerned with the ride and also keeping all my suspension geometry where its supposed to be as far as angles. i was also told not to buy any kit that doesent come with any control arms as this will keep me from getting the ride im looking for and will not get my angles where they need to be. again please correct me if im wrong. i have tried to do as much research as i possibly could and am still looking for advice. i was also considering the aev kit but i havent seen any aev reps chiming in on this forum either so that makes me worry about their customer service. im not wanting to start the ever popular rk vs tf war i would just like to hear peoples first hand experiences. not just "got it and love it" but why you love it, or what made you choose "brand x" over "brand Y". by the way, this forum is freaking awesome. i have learned more about my jk in a week than i thought was humanly possible!!! by the way i have a 09 jkur.

Well I can't really comment on the RK lift as I'm not familiar with them. However I do know about the TF lifts and almost went with it when I did my lift. I know the TF guys have great customer service, I watched one of their employees get chewed out for about 5 to 10 minutes about a problem and watched as he gave his direct number and told the guy to call him and he would take care of him. I did go with the AEV lift and love it. I have talked with their reps before, the last two years in Moab and were really good to talk with and knew their stuff. Last year when I broke my sway bar disconect on a trail they were very interested in looking at what happened and helped figure out what to do to fix the problem.

As far as comparing lift kits its all about what you want but I would advise that you really consider doing it right the first time. I'm not sure if you were looking at a 2.5 inch lift kit or a 2.5 inch budget boost. I would suggest going with a lift kit and not a budget boost. Everyone I know that has ever put a budget boost on has replaced it with a real lift kit later.

I've help put a few body lifts on freinds old YJ's and they weren't to bad to do but you do have to realize that a YJ is far more simple than a JK. I don't know much about the body lifts for the JK but I'm sure that there is a thread on here about some one putting a body lift on.

bottom line if you want 3.5 inches of lift I would get a 3.5 inch lift kit, but that's just my way of thinking.

If you're gonna go with a 2.5" lift, buy one with shocks. You can get the TF 2.5" lift w/Bilstein 5100's from Dave @ Northridge 4x4 for $775, I believe (it's not on their site...you gotta call em.) Rock Krawler also makes a very good 2.5" setup.

Body lifts can be a problem on the JK's. If you put too high a BL on a Jeep w/a manual tranny it can mess up your shifting. Plus, they just plain look ugly on a JK, IMO.

To get 3.5" of lift, buy a 3.5" lift.

I ended up with the RK 2.5" Stock Mod kit and am really happy with it. I went with the RK basically because of the upgradability. Started with the Stock mod with the plan of going to the Flex Mod then the Max Travel in time. I don't notice any of the flighty feel that some people talk about when going without the LCA's. I do plan on getting them as i know it's the best thing in the long run but I don't think it is a must have.
