I could carry them around but what should I. Get rid of first: scuba equipment, camping equipment, road bike, mountain bike?

I teach scuba, so no. I camp on the weekends I teach my open water class, so no. And I belong to a roadie and mtb bike clubs I train with weekly so no. Maybe I'll buy a Tacoma so I don't have to hear an answer to a question that is soooo obvious. I assume you don't have a life just the way you assumed I had room in the back. Thanks for the useless and I have
To admit insulting answer. If you we're trying to be polite or funny with your answer then I have to let you know you failed. I always liked this forum for its informative moderating. Not sarcasm.

And to the other who have legitimate answers. Thank you. Ill look into the piano hinge. It would hide well and not be exposed to rain.

What's more important in your case, convenience of flipping it up, or a storage issue?

For storage, maybe it's possible to store them somehow on the underside of the roof inside? Or in a cargo basket on top? The flip method is an interesting idea... I'd be curious how it turns out. It seems the most practical... just unhook & flip. It's just hard to picture people driving around with half a top folded over like that. I guess it's really not much different than the softtop sunrider feature.

Convenience and storage are important. The rail idea was great. I'm lazy and I like pushing a button. Living in Houston with a canvas top is catamount to a burglary.

I scuba, camp and bike, I put my top panels ontop of my equipment. No harm, bikes go on the outside if the jeep. When I camp if for a week so I'm good there. Just unload at the site. I mostly run topless. But it is a good idea and I hope it works out for u. It will prob cost alot, though it is very doable.
