Heavy Load Suspension

It's me again :tease: I use may Jeep for camping quite a bit. I have it loaded down with all kinds of stuff. Now that I've spent all my money on camping gear, it's time to spend money I don't have on suspension upgrades. One day I'll have 35s and a 4 inch lift, but until then...

My question is, what is the most effective way to beef up my suspension for heavy loads? Should I just start with new heavy duty springs? Would love to hear about specific kits or parts.

I don't need much of a lift for now, just want to make it safer on and off the road. The roof top tent and awning stay on most of the camping season (held up by a Gobi roof rack), and I have a bull bar and winch on the front. I load lots of stuff in the back regularly.

Thanks!!

I think air bags would help control sag due to excessive weight.

Ah, great idea, I didn't think of that. Hopefully I could use the compressor to air up my tires too. Any suggested vendors?

Air bags are definitely the way to go in your situation. Firestone makes a nice set and they don't take much air (~5-12psi) so a massive air compressor isn't necessary. I had a set for a while and they worked well for pulling a trailer. I developed a leak and ditched them- in all fairness, they were a second hand, second hand, cousin's sister's aunt's brother's neighbor kind of find. If you buy them new then I don't see any issues.
