Default HELP adding muffler to stock pipe

Hello all, does anyone know whether an after-market muffler can be installed on 4dr JKU without any cutting/welding? For example, can the one-piece stock muffler with attached pipes be removed from the long extension pipe (running from the y-pipe to over the rear axle) and then simply replaced with an after-market muffler? If so, any relatively quiet after market mufflers that you can suggest??
thanks in advance

not sure why you would want to replace the stock muffler with a quiet aftermarket muffler but, I'm pretty sure welding will be required since most aftermarket mufflers are smaller you will need to attach new hangers for the exhaust.
I just had a shop do mine, I have a dynomax muffler (its like the second loudest on their scale or something), and it only cost like 40$ to get it installed plus the time and effort saved on my part it was definitely worth it, the guy even routed the end pipe up at an angle so I would get maximum clearance off road. I have been really happy with it too, no drone and its just a little louder than stock most of the time but, it really comes ALIVE(like 5x louder just muffler, 10x louder with CAI+muffler) when I floor it on freeway on-ramps or when the engine is working hard offroading.

I'm not 100% sure what your asking, but there are several after market exhaust for sale. I have worked with the MBRP axle back and the Rusty's Off Road axle back. Both installed the same, unbolt stock clamp pry out the exhaust from the hangers. Then slide on new exhaust slide metal hangers through rubber hangers retighten clamp.

I'll try to explain my predicament. The whole story (but short). About 4 months ago I installed the MBRP SS cat back off road exhaust ON MY 2010 4dr JKU. Great quality product. However, I'm regretting the sound. Sounds great at idle but under normal acceleration I'm turning heads of pedestrians within 100ft and it's too loud for me driving. Like an idiot, I destroyed the stock system trying to get it off. Otherwise I would put it back on. I started this thread because I'm trying to figure out the least expensive solution to quiet down my exhaust experience. It will cost me $440 incl tax to purchase the stock aluminum OEM system from Mopar. That kind of hurts!!

I was thinking about installing a resonator but i will need to pay someone since I can't cut/weld and I'm afraid the total price will approach buying the stock ( which is a Sound that I know ). My original text was contemplating whether I buy the OEM pipe for $174 that runs from the y-pipe to the rear axle and then install an after market muffler instead of the stock (which costs $246) IF no cutting/welding would be needed. I could do this in my garage.

That's my story! Sad but true.

When I sold autoparts you could buy the stock style pipes and mufflers for cheap. Go to an advanced auto during monday through friday 8-5 when the commerical guys are working and they can your look parts up, maybe in the computer or, most likely, in the parts catalog. Look for the guys with a cordless phone on their belt.

I had a vibrant resonator installed and all they did was saw zaw(spelling?) the stock pipe, slid the resonator in and put muffler clamps on it. Made my Dynomax exhaust quieter and more tolerable. This is a simple fix as an alternative to replacing the exhaust and also having to weld something new in

This right here, throw a bullet/glasspack type in front of the rear axle, under the driver area. This will help "scrub" down the exhaust. Clamps are fine as long as it has a good seal.

08BLckX, what system/muffler do you have from us by chance?

I didn't like how low the stock muffler hung or the appearance (rusty looking when bought new). I had a small, flatter Magnalow muffler welded and placed higer than stock and a single outlet near stock location. Not a fan of muffler clamps. Welds are much more solid. The muffler is not visable from the rear. Total cost= $125.oo.
