help adding reverse light
I just picked up a dually diffused light that i want to install as an additional reverse light. I want to wire it to go on whenever reverse is engaged, but also wanted to possibly put a switch in that could turn it on whenever i want. Im not too good with electrical, so anybody have any tips or a good method to go about doing this??
I did the exact same thing about a year ago
I chose not to put a switch in, it's simply tied into the backup circuit
It draws so little power, I've never had any problems with it
If you search you can find my original step by step post

More searching on the topic will yield the result you're looking for. I was in the same boat not too long ago and came up with a solution and my lights work on a switch and when the reverse circuit is engaged.

Try one of these.. They will prevent the possibility of the aux power back-feeding into the TIPM.
Find the OEM backup wire from the TIPM. Cut it, and run a wire from each new end to the switch.
Then run a fused hot wire or a fused switched wire to the switch.

It's easy wire the light first with the rigid harness first with not even thinking about having it hard lined to the jeep.
After the light is functional with the switch, then run a wire from the driver side reverse light socket(+ wire) and run it to the red (+ positive) wire in the rigid harness as another remote turn on lead wire
- the driver side reverse light is easier because you can run the wire under the padded cushion near the fuel tube near the frame.
And every time your in reverse walla and for a d bag on your ass shazam I've done it a couple times
It won't let me post pics for some reason but I run 2 flush dually's on my l.o.d and this was how I did it
