The difference between 32's and 33's so small you'll probably not even notice it. I barely notice a difference between stock and 35's other then 1st gear.

4.10's would give you a bit more grunt over the 3.73's but you will sacrifice milage. If you have any other Jeeps around you that you can drive it would probably help, cause either will get you what your looking for, just a matter of comprimising power vs milage. If you think you will ever upgrade to 35's then I say 4.10's all the way.

if your are going with the 4.10, may i suggest you call your dealer or local shop, and ask for the dana 44 front from Jeep. comes ready to bolt in with 4.10 and factory e-locker and all for only $1500, try to find a NEW dana 44 with locker and 4.10 for that. then just re-gear the rear. but if money is an issue like it is here in my house....just re-gear both. I just had the TJ re-geared with 4.88 for $1200. But beware..... the TJ now has 4.88 and 31 inch tires and i lost 5th gear....61 miles per hour @3200 RPM...hoping 32's will help out a bit on that. not much a highway cruiser but one hellofa crawler. good luck

I wouldn't try to duplicate the stock Rubi feel since it is underpowered. Since you have an auto I'd bypass the 4.10's and go to 4.56's. The stock Rubi with 32's and 4.10 gears spins 2250 going down the freeway at 75. That is not enough rpm. The motor is happier at 2400-2700 rpm and stays in OD a whole lot better. I think Jeep made a mistake with the 4.10's in the Rubi and should have gone with 4.56's.

Having said that I'm in Colorado at 4600 ft and usually go up from there. If you're in flatlander country things may be different.

One argument for going with 4.10's is that a lot of Rubi owners change gears and you may be able to come up with a take off set with very few miles for very little money. Although the real cost is the install at about 300-350 per axle. And of course while you're there you might as well do lockers. Damn these things like to suck your wallet dry!

I kind of agree with what you said about 4.10's, especially since you said you are at altitude.
My Rubi automatic/4.10's is fine at around 100 feet above sea level. I am real happy with the performance and mileage compromise.

Not sure I understand. If you agree are you saying that the 4.10's are not enough at altitude above 100 feet?

How did you get that from what I said?
He said he operates at 4600 feet and above. There is a big difference in performance at those altitudes.
All I said was I am at 100 feet, and mine performs very nicely.

No one has come out with 4.56's yet, though that would probably give him what he is looking for. I'm sure you will feel the difference from 3.21's to 4.10 but its alot of money to spend for that difference. You should really look at your build sheet or window sticker, 08's auto should have 3.73 gears. It definately would NOT be worth it to switch to 4.10's then. I suggest waiting to see if they come out with 4.56 or Maybe go with 4.88 when you get the 33's

Also if you somehow do have 3.21 and auto you have to change both center carriers to goto 3.73 or above. they are $58 bucks from Northridge but then of course there is the labor to change them.

The Jeep website says that I have 3.21's but I'll double check the sticker when I get home tonight just to be sure.

Thanks for the feedback...

Yeah, since it ends up being 1200-1300 to swap gears it's something you only want to do once if at all possible. But I just checked and Superior does have the 4.56 gear ratio available - well at least Quadratec has it listed. If a person knew they were never going to go above 32 or 33"tires 4.56 would be a good option especially if they were down near sea level. But if you thought 34's may be in your future consider 4.88's and if 35 or 37's may come along go 5.13's.
