Default Help the new guy out.....

I recently bought my first Jeep. It's a 2009 Wrangler Unlimited X. I've wasted no time in making it a bit more capable by doing the basics:

2.5" RC coil lift w/ shocks and dual steering stabilizers.
Sway quick disconnects
32" Tires on 17" rims...only slightly larger than stock but much nicer rims
Warn Rock Crawler bumper w/ winch and lights
K&N Filter
Flowmaster
Superchips
Rubicon sliders

So, what are the recommendations for the next step? I've read some saying 3.73 gears with a locker is more advantageous than just doing lower gears (assuming doing both is cost prohibitive). Then I hear the traction control system in these JKs does at least an admirable job so lower gears is better than just adding a locker. ???

I have the trackbar relocation bracket in the rear so is there an advantage to an adjustable trackbar? With only a couple inches of lift, any advantage to adjustable control arms? NOT going any higher in lift or tire size.

I noticed when jacking it up that the anti-lock brake cable going to the caliper was taut much sooner than the break line up front. Any fix? The brackets that came with the lift seemed to put a lot of strain on the line (tube) so I figured I'd get longer lines. However, that wouldn't help the anti-lock cable. ???

Okay....that's enough for now. I'm sure I'll have more questions soon.

Sounds like you have a nice JK there diver matt. I went the same route; I purchased an 07 X and then the mods started.....slowly. With the tire size you are running I would not spend money on gears; you can not go wrong with a rear locker. I would replace your front break lines; they will get streached however the rears won't. I think I just removed the ABS sense line from one of the brackets and it allowed for wheel travel. If you have an auto you may want to look into a rubicrawler at some time; this give you more T Case versatility and a 7.40:1 low range (stock is 1.72:1). Good luck!

Stock low is 2.72, not 1.72, but I agree with the rubicrawler, and it also lets you put it in 2 low

Now that you are a jeep owner, you will want to go offroad. I'm a big believer in additional protective armour, especially if you are running small 32". tires. Start with oil pan and evap canister skid protection. You'll be glad you did when you hear the rocks hitting your undercarriage. Good insurance...

Thanks to all thus far. Definitely been eyeing some skids. The Rubicrawler looks like an AWESOME mod but holy crap....could do lockers front and rear for that price. I'll have to keep an eye on that one. Seems with the traction control the crawler might actually make more sense.

I would strongly consider at least a 33 in tire.
