Yup....noticed that mine did the same thing.

After I installed CAI and exhaust I went to rev it up and it seems to be limited to 3500 RPM or so....also, if you try to hold it at say 2000 rpm it flutters around trying to go back to idle.

So, my guess is there is some kind of rev limiter in the computer that detects no load and limits the RPM..

Kinda like the government.....always looiing out for your safety.

So, what did the dealer say when you took it in?

they said "thats normal" although, my warrinty ends in about 300 miles. so they could just be saying that...or it could be the truth. Ill keep the papers and then go to another dealer after my warrinty ends and see what they say.

Others, myself included, have said theirs behaves the same way.

I'm voting "Normal".

What tests?

An AEV ProCal will allow you to adjust the idle speed up to 2,000 rpm for 10 minutes.

like finding the altenator output at 2K, diode ripple test at 2K, charging voltage drop at 2K

i dont think a dealer will have an AEV ProCal...

that aint an issue man... you shouldnt be wasting the dealerships time with that crap.

how important is it to you to be able to hold a consistent rpm while stopped in neutral? i mean, who really cares?

Well, you didn't ask how the dealer is supposed to hold and rpm for testing.

I was under the impression this was all about YOU wanting to hold an rpm.

I would imagine the dealer's StarScan will do that.

Anyway, I went out to mine today and tried to hold 1500 and 2000 rpm.
It is difficult, but can be done.
If you put your foot on the gas pedal, and slide your foot to the right so your shoe drags on the carpet, you can find the spot to hold an rpm of your choice. The carpet will help steady your foot.

It's in their throttle mapping. Something between their software, pedal or throttle body. Nothin you or the dealer is going to fix. You can get a tuner that will hold it at 1800 ( i think? ), have to deal with it really.
