This is what I did. Solves the problem with flutter and gives security that works with the ignition key. $60 on Amazon. Easy install. Go to harbor freight for the rivet gun if you don't have it.

I use zip ties only had to replace them once so far and it's been almost 2 years. I forgot the name but on my 07 there was a guy on the forum selling small square tubing and a zip tie to hold in place where the hood latch rested closed taking up the open space. (Jeep swag ) I believe it was. Acted like a double latch like a regular hood release. This also eliminated hood flutter ( and gave shop techs a head scratcher trying to get it open).

FYI the hood flutters not because of the latches, but because most people remove any form of air dam from below the jeep. This changes the aerodynamics and causes air to rush upward into the engine bay from below the jeep. This negatively impacts engine cooling efficiency, fuel economy, and causes hood flutter.

More aftermarket bumpers need to address this will an appropriate air dam replacement.

Just curious but I've been told the Rugged Ridge don't work on the 10A/Hard Rock hood. Does anybody know if this is true?

I still have the air dam and it used to flutter until I made my own latches...

Hood flutter gives you something to talk about when you have a new person in the Jeep.

Is it that big of an issue? I figure the under latch would hold. Has anyone had the hood open at highway speeds?

I haven't thought of spending money on latches if it is not a major issue.

If it is about eliminating the hood flutter, I removed the hood spring by the latch, and to my surprise, 0 hood flutter anymore. I have 3500 miles on 2 24hr straight drives to NY and back to prove it
