How about running 40's

So what would it take including drive gear to run 40's. Would 6" be enough or would you have to have a BL as well. Would stock Dana 44's hold up. If this wont cost me the farm I would like to do it. Since i'm not going to be the first one on the block with a lifted JK I might as well be the biggest :eek!: :) Whats the size difference between a 3/4 ton axle and a Dana 44?

Well, TeraFlex did it...

... and it took a 6" long arm kit to do it. I suppose it's entirely possible to run them on the factory Dana 44's especially if you upgrade the shafts to chromoly but that's a lot tire to be spinning on the rocks without busting something. :eek!:

That's alot a tire but wow that thing looks freakin sweet. I saw Tera Flex advertizing this lift but they don't go into detail on there site. are they not producing it yet? There's a guy on another forum who installed a four inch I think with 38/16.50. He took off the fenders and made a exo cage. It looks like he has plenty of room for those things to move. Maybe 38's would be the way to go.

No, the kit isn't for sale yet but from what I could tell, the long arm kit consists of new longer longer LCA's and new factory lenght UCA's that bolt up to the existing mounts. Also, this particular kit was running a TeraFlex steering system and replacement drive shafts.

Regarding 38's, I know that Mel at Off Road Evolution is running 37's on his 4" lifted Sahara Unlimited without any problems and would guess that without the flares, you would have plenty of room for more :)

If you run 40's post the images please. They may not be my cuppa tea but I really like looking at them.
