So, the final verdict is AEV will do everything Hypertech will do except the added HP??

No the AEV will do A LOT more. But, won't add HP/TQ and control shift points on the Auto tranny.

Can the AEV be Internet-updated? The Hypertech can, of course, so I expect that if enough folks decide on the AEV (with good reason, it seems) that Hypertech might respond both with a lower price and with more updates to the firmware--perhaps with those AEV features. Ain't competition great?

Well, I'm not sure which I need, if any. I recently installed a 2 1/2" lift and 295/70/17 tires. I have 4:10 gears and the set up is perfect until I run interstate. It seems the JK struggles at 70 + speed. With the cruise on it keeps downshifting whenever I get to the slightest hill. (very slight, I live in Louisiana!) This is my only complaint. I don't know if either could fix this?? Would adjusting the shift points on my auto trans help??

They both sound like great products. However I think im still leaning towards the hypertech. The extra little bit of power could help. I just wish it was't $300.00. Is it comfermed that the AEV wont change shift points on an auto?

It doesn't mention it in the AEV sales info and I haven't heard from anyone on the forums that it does.

I have the 6-speed, but from what I read in the instructions the AEV effectively does result in updated shift points for the auto, by virtue of recording the proper tire size (and therefore correcting the speedo and odo).

Here's what the AEV instructions say about Tire Size Mode:

"This mode allows the user to adjust the tire size setting on the vehicle. This will ensure proper speedometer reading, odometer function, and automatic transmission shift points."

Thanks, Roxster. I haven't seen that.

I just saw the AEV ProCal Module online today. For the price I think I'm going to order it. It will be worth it to me to fix the speedo, and change the tire pressure sensors settings. i have 35"s on the rubicon's 4.10's with an Auto trans, so if it helps the shift points i will be super stoked, don't need any more power or torque. I'll let everyone know what it does after I order... if the wife lets me haha

I rather have the AEV. I had the Hypertech and the only big difference is being able to choose fuel types. The hypertech may add a tiny bit of hp/tq but nothing that I noticed. If I had to do it again I would go with the AEV and use the extra $200 I saved towards another mod.
