Okay - my 2 cents -
I bought the jeep I wanted for a long time. I added a lift to fit the size tires I wanted.
I went with RC because I have used them with great results in the past and they had what I was looking for in the price range I was looking to stay.
I put in the lift and after one year, had a shock leaking. Called them and they quickly sent out a replacement and no need to send the bad one back. No charge to me.
Those are the reasons I went with RC and am glad they have not changed their ways.
As to quality issues - every manufacturer has a bad product run and it is how they react to them that makes the difference.

You need to realize you are correct. Most of us JK owners are normal drivers who like to have fun with our Jeeps on the beach, etc. not drive like n00bs and push them to extremes on some stupid rock infested trail until we break something, then, laugh and celebrate with our fellow n00bs while we bask in the glory of breaking a Dana 44 and brag about how we just broke $5000 in parts. These so called "pro" trail guys will never understand the logic of spending less for parts that are adequate for our driving needs. This is exactly why I intend to lift my Jeep even higher to look cool because I couldnt care less about how I would rank in some God awful rock crawling super trail in some hell hole. I would much rather look cool at the beach while enjoying the sights and sun.
RC parts are just fine for what we do. We look cooler and spent way less money.

To be perfectly honest I dont think it really matters what brand parts you run as long as you understand their limits. Rough Country stuff is great price wise for those who want the lifted look and ability to run mild to moderate trails. I looked very seriously into purchasing one of their kits and the only thing that kept me from doin it is that 2 of my friends have their springs and both have winches and decently heavy bumpers and they sagged more than what they deemed should be appropriate. Easily corrected with spacers though. I personally bought Rock Krawler stuff because I'd rather be way overbuilt. I run a lot of 3 and 4 diamond trails and some 5s at the local ORV and just knowing that my RK stuff has a bombproof warranty is confidence to me as well as seeing how well their stuff is built. I also just happened to come across my stuff through the classifieds for cheaper than the comparable RC kit. Not saying that RC is trash or that they don't stand behind their stuff but I just decided not to go with it. I'll never sit here and say that someone else's rig is trash or built with junk parts bc those "junk parts" may have taken someone months or years to save for and they are very proud of what they've done.
I wheel with guys in $200,000 tube buggys and they treat me like I'm one of them. To them and myself it doesn't matter if you're in a $200,000 buggy or a $500 Samurai, as long as you're out there wheeling and having fun that's all that matters. I consider everyone I meet on the trails a brother until they act in a manner to make me think otherwise. All this brand snobbing shit needs to stop. Yea I run an RK kit but I'm no better than my best friend who runs a Zone kit. Driving a jeep is about being a part of an elite community, not getting in a pissing contest about whose shit is better than whose. If you want the honest truth I know a guy that has built dozens of lifts in his shop for buggys, jeeps, trucks and all sorts of vehicles. I've personally watched his home brew shit outperform and drive by broken down rigs with $30,000 worth of coil overs and bypass shocks under them. But ya know what, he always stops and helps anybody that's broke regardless of what they're in. I guarantee you anything he's built can go anywhere in the world and perform with ANY rig built by EVO, Teraflex, Rock Krawler or the like. But to him none of that matters because he's just another guy who likes hangin out with people and wheelin. His biggest pride is when people watch his rig on the trails and say "Holy shit man what kind of lift is that?" and he can look at them and say "one I built".

And i agree wit ya!
Have to say, this was probably the biggest waste of reading time I have ever had....
It doesnt matter what you build your Jeep with....it's the LOVE of the Jeep that matters. I couldnt give a crap what lift someone uses or likes or dislikes. The greatness about Jeeps when building them up is that you can do it 100% completely to your likes or dislikes. I didnt build mine to please anyone else but myself. I went with what I liked, not what the guy next to me likes. I run a Rock Krawler lift, because I chose to go with a smaller company that specializes in 1 thing for my lift, because it is what I wanted. I will probably never wheel my rig close to what it has the potential to do....but it is how I wanted it built. The technology all starts somewhere, and trickles down from there. Arguing about someone's build parts is just a waste of time. Boutique builders like RK, Terraflex, PSC specialize in 1 thing, while the larger companies like Rugged Ridge, Rough Country put out multitudes of different products. You dont see Poison Spyder putting out suspension systems, they trust companies like Rock Krawler to do it for them. They stick to what they do best...
Appreciate other Jeeps, and respect the people that drive them...after all, its not about who is driving it...its about the Jeep itself and what it represents to all of us
Just the .02 from a Jeep lover for over 30 years
