Installing Sirius Inline Coax Connector
If you have to remove you dash to change a leaking heater core as I did a couple of weeks back, you will find the only electrical connection with no way to disconnect it is your Sirius Radio Antenna Wire. This is a coaxial wire you will find runs down through the passenger foot well. I cut mine, you could unplug it from the head unit and fish it out the dash, but it is zip tied up in there with other wires. I wanted to put in a quick connect so that when the fan or AC condenser (also in the dash) kicks the bucket I can easily disconnect the antenna along with all the other wiring and remove the dash.
You need 2 of the following male connectors, cut the wire and install one on each end. What I have typed below it what is printed on the front of the little bag they come in. I got mine from and electrical supply company here in Baton Rouge - Southern Electronics
Emerson 50 OHM BNC (M)
Crimp-on, 3 Piece, for RG-174, 187, 188, 316
You need 1 coupler to go between the 2 aforementioned male connectors, so 3 parts total.
To do this you will need a Hex Crimp Tool, or find a car audio shop to crimp them in for you. Buy extras it is a bit tedious of a crimp job and they are about $1.50 or so a piece.
I will take a picture and post it up later.
