Is it same trans as well?

Trans is partially the same but obviously it's set up for a rear wheel drive rather than front so it doesn't have the transaxle part. I'm sure many of the internals are the same.

Showing some of the differences in how the accessories are set up. I can use all the parts from my old engine to bolt onto the new one. Here is the two engines side by side. Notice different oil filter locations and motor mounts.

While looking for parts I noticed a huge difference in price for the same part. Look under Jeep JK expensive, look under caravan. Cheap

It looks like you'll have to swap the valve covers left to right, is that accurate?

Wasn't sure if you were joking No the engine long block and valve covers are the same.

I was asking because the fill spot for the oil looks like it would be right up on the brake booster and going off of memory, the wrangler 3.8 fills from the passenger side. Your pictures confirm that.
