Yeah, it's a PITA for sure! I used a needle nose vice grip to hold the nut under the perch and squeezed my fingers through the coil to thread the bolt to the nut. It took like a half hour each side to get it to thread. But once it's on, it's on and works great.

If you know someone with a stick welder have them weld a rod to each nut and use the rod as a handle to stick under the perch.

I used some chewing gum to hold the washer on and then some needle nosed vise grips to hold the nut in place. I've had to take the springs off and redo this procedure twice now. Royal PITA!

I didn't think to use gum! I use silicon glue to hold the washers. Got one on and said F**k it on the other side and just used the nut. Works nonetheless.

Open ended box wrench, put nut in it and washer on top and then electrical tape the washer and nut to the under side of the nut and wrench. Electrical tape will allow you to pull the wrench out when done.

I forgot all about my retainers that I attempted for like an hour to put on like 2 months ago. Now they are just retaining their space on a shelf

It took me at least 45 mins. I haven't worked that hard to get a nut on since high school.

What about one of those pen-sized retractable magnets all the parts stores sell by the counter?
