JL Hood latches-questions-opinions
So.
My oem rubber/plastic hood hold downs are faded terrible and I'm wanting to replace.
My questions are for anyone that has switched to the JL hood latches.
*Are happy you did the swap?
*Happy with the way they look?
*Did you get the hood gap line back to stock?
*And finally, would you do it again, or go another route?
Anyone who did the swap, post up some pics if you want.
Thanks in advance for any input and have a great weekend.

I did it on our new 2018 JKU after first encounter with a semi . Used a Dremel at first but ended up drilling latch stud 3/8" and elongating catch holes on hood and fender. Painted holes with POR15. Latching pushes fender inward slightly. I shaved some rubber off bottom of catch (1/8") to lessen elongation on hood holes a bit. Happy with results, yes.

Guessing you're just enthralled with the looks of the JL latch vs. all the good direct fit JK options we have available?

If your so concerned about the factory latches, check the Marketplace > Vendors > virtually every online catalogue has replacement metal hood latches. As you can see from Wireman's post use of the JL necessitated modifying metal openings. Just my .02..

Did the JL latches on my black JKUR and was happy with the outcome. Rather than do the 3/8" drill (like the YouTube video recommended), I used a small diameter chainsaw file to enlarge the holes only in the direction that was needed. The hardest part of the swap was getting to the 15 mm nut in the body.

I was just wondering why you were trying to fit an oval peg in a round hole is all, when we have a lot of very good JK specific options. I'm not certain what the big deal is about JL latches personally, but I know we all have preferences. Not certain why you feel the need to call me out for my post, but that's ok.....I'll make sure I'm around when you have a real problem.
