Default K&N intake question

I have a 2011 Wrangler Unlimited Sport. I got a K&N cold air intake kit for Christmas. Once the kids were done opening all their presents, I jumped on installing it. This is my first mod on my Jeep. The install went without any problems.

My Jeep now has a nice deeper growl at full throttle. Seat of the pants, it seems to have a little more power. I did notice something strange. When I am in park, the engine wont rev above 2500 RPM. It seems like it is in limp mode. It revs, then the power cuts out. When I put it into gear, everything seems fine while I am driving. Any ideas?

It seems that this is build date and likely PCM revision date dependent. I wouldn't sweat it, as nothing wrong with having a N/P rev limiter.

Did you disconnect the battery to let the computer reset when you put it on. I just put mine on like 2 weeks ago but I dont have that issue.

I did disconnect the battery throughout the entire install process, which the instructions said should be done. I figured it would be necessary for the computer to adjust to the different air flow. It still seems to be rev-limited while in park, but runs beautifully once I'm in gear and moving.

Mine is an 07' and the K&N, but I had no issues and did disconnect the battery prior to install.I would, which I am sure you have done, make sure you didn't dislodge a connection somewhere. Sorry about your frustration.
