KM2 to Duratracs?
 

So I have BFG KM2 285-70-17 on my 2007 JKU right now and they are getting worn. I've had them for 3 years now and have been happy! But like everyone else I'm thinking of 35's for my next set... My question, is that this is my DD and I do street and highway driving. How much of a difference will it be going to a 35 Duratrac? I have the BFG right now that are mud terrain and specs say weigh 59lbs each... Will it be that much more of a strain to bump up to the Duratracs that are 315-70-17, and an all terrain tire; specs say they weigh 60lbs each..?? I have an auto Sahara with 4.10 gears... I have a teraflex 2.5 with 3/4 inch spacers front and rear with flat fenders so I'm not worried about rubbing. Jeep doesn't see a lot of wheeling, every once in awhile....

I had 37" km2s on my 2010 Sahara jku and loved Em..... Flipped that rig. Totaled. Now I'm running 315/70R17 Goodyear Duratracs and I must say they are ten times better all around, even in mud. But I'm a Lil upset Goodyear don't make Em in 37. I wanna get my ruby on 37s but I have the biggest Duratrac size Goodyear makes (equal to 35") so I'll be going to mtrs. Good luck on ur buy! Here's a shot of the Duratracs slinging some thick jersey mud O and my rubi has 4.10s also and it's my dd that I drive back and forth over the bridge to philly daily and it's just fine

Thanks, I know that a lot of 35's are a lot heavier which puts strain on all components and driveability. I like that the Duratracs are only 1 lb heavier than my BFG's. I don't think that would be that much more strain. I know they are wider also, but all terrain vs MUDs. I also like the look of the Duratracs for an AT.

I've run KM2s, Hankooks, and Duratracs. Love my Duratracs. Great traction and super quiet on the road and awesome off road. Just did the Rubicon 2 weeks ago and they performed great!

Difference? Strain? Instead of telling what I run; "love them, best tire available, blah blah blah," ...

Have heard NOTHING BUT GOOD things about DuraTracs, like many just wish they would come in the 37" size. I am giving very serious consideration to the TreadWright Guard Dogs with the old style MT tread pattern. They are a bead to bead retread that sells for $152 in the 315/75/16 size and $159 in the 315/70/17 size. If you buy in sets of 4 or 5 they claim to match carcasses. For the tires I buy thats about $200 savings per tire. Something to think about, and like the Dura's have heard nothing but good things about them, in fact Four Wheeler Magazine loved them.

Check your info on the treadwrights- I don't believe the carcass maters anymore since they do bead to bead. Also, I thought I saw a buy 4 get the 5th free promo.


To the OP- many people are pleased with the dura's, surely you will too.

35's, 2.5 TF with 3/4 spacer, 4.10's. Handles just fine and yes they weigh about 60lbs each. Quiet on the highway and handle well off road. They are just ok in the mud but overall good tire. Do it!

I love my DuraTracs - Wish they were made in 37s!!!!
