I just installed 4" ICON springs now my lift is 5.5" I measured shock installed, which was 24" and the spring measuring 15" ...What gives? How much settling can be expected? I do have a 3/4" spacer in front due to the fact I thought it would sag. This is just ridiculous though.

 

Most any coil is going to give you a higher lift then advertised if you have a light jeep. I would expect to settle in a bit after a few hundred miles but not 1.5". You will likely remove the front spacer.

 

Yeah, pulling the spacer today and cycling the suspension for bump stops while I'm at it. Seems I got a case of the dumbass after, I got to spending money. Oh well. live and learn.

 

Yeah most springs I've come across on friends rigs almost always net +.75 To +1. My "1.5" Metalcloak kit gave me closer to 2.25 unweighted and 2" measured once the rig had armor all installed.

Not many people will complain about getting more lift than advertised, but you know if someone got just -.25 from advertised a war would begin on how they were cheated

 

Geez, just looked underneath I have a leak at the transfer case

 

Ugh, thank the Lord it's oil...now I have to track down the leak. Hopefully just a gasket

 

Oil leak is the oil filter adapter ...plastic junk. Going to need a front drive shaft...Recommendation? Spacer is out..Whew, sitting nice now at 4.65" net from 5.45" and it'll require 2.5" of bumps. Thanks Dirtman for basically, pushing me do it the right way....lol

 

Looks to have a bit of a rake to it but, not sure. Where do I measure to get the rear lift measurement? From the looks of the rear tires in the fenders I need control arms bad!? What are the +/- 's Short Arm / Mid-Arm CAs?

 

At 4" of lift you will loose about 1.5" of wheel base and control arms will push them back out. This is both front and rear, not just the rear. Front relocation brackets will take of the front loss in wheelbase as well as caster and flatten the arms for a less axle shift while sacrificing some ground clearance. Mid arm=short arm its marketing bs term used to confuse the customer into thinking they are getting something special, they are not. Lots to choose from out there for the best combination of flex and ride you are not going to beat synergy or metal cloak. Also don't fall for manufacturer claims their joints are better because of the massive amount of misalignment they offer as with 4" of lift and 12" of shocks travel you will never really need so much misalignment unless the company is arms with a poor (bend) fit for the JK.
